Did you know that Wash Park Pediatric Dentistry recently earned certification for KultureCity Sensory Inclusive Venue? We want to share more about what we offer those with physical, mental, or sensory special needs both in terms of our facility and our approach to care. Keep reading to learn what this certification means and the things you can expect to find in our practice that you won’t find elsewhere.
What Does KultureCity Sensory Inclusive Venue Certification Mean?
This recognition of our training and facility means that you can feel confident your child with special needs will not only be able to bear dental appointments but also be able to enjoy them! They can feel calm and not overstimulated, making dental care much less stressful for everyone. This certification can also give you reassurance if you know a family with kids who have special needs, you can refer them to Wash Park Pediatric Dentistry without hesitation.
What Can Young Patients with Special Needs Expect at Wash Park Pediatric Dentistry?
As soon as you and your child arrive, you’ll be greeted by a friendly professional at the front desk. Upon request, a KultureCity sensory kit can be borrowed, which contains fidget toys, a badge, and other materials that can keep your child’s sensory needs under control.
Our unique Sensory Room is unlike any other accommodation you’ll find any Rocky Mountain dental office. This room has sensitively controlled lights, noise-cancelling headphones, weighted blankets and toys, cordless cleaning, and ceiling mounted entertainment to keep kids with special needs comfortable and distracted while we care for their smiles. When X-rays are necessary, we take them to a machine where they can sit and not become overwhelmed.
Board-certified pediatric dentists and the rest of our staff have undergone additional special needs training, meaning they know latest technology, toys, and techniques for helping kids with these challenges. On the way out, your child can choose a prize, which only adds to the reward triggers in the brain.
Although we have had our unique Sensory Room for a while now, we are proud to be recognized for it and the pleasant experiences we give kids every day. If you would like to learn more about this certification or Wash Park Pediatric Dentistry in general, contact us today!
